Last weekend we were lucky enough to be invited to try the new Lima Floral weekend brunch menu. If you're a fan of Peruvian cuisine you should already know all about the wonder that is Lima, however if not lets get you up to speed!
There are four main things you need to know about Lima London...they have two locations - Fitzrovia and Floral Street (Covent Garden), they were the first Peruvian restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star, the delicious duo are backed by renowned Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez and the food is an absolute sensation!
The weekend brunch is served at the floral street restaurant - a two floor space streaming with light and style from every direction. On the first floor you'll find the main restaurant, with a private dining room and Pisco bar located downstairs.
First impressions as you walk in are instantly impressive...chic decor centred around geometry using a mix of vibrant colours and texture. Everywhere you turn something will catch you eye, be it a wall tapestry, ceramic plates the colour of the ocean, the bustle from the kitchen or the beautiful floor tiles. Character is packed into every possible nook and cranny!
Just to add a very fat cherry on top of an already awesome cake...the food is also to die for! Everything laid before us was bursting with flavour...one minute you're digging into delicate sea bream ceviche packed full of citrus, ginger and chili and the next buttery chicken smothered in deep smokey flavours. It's quite literally a party in your mouth!
The brunch costs £30pp and for that you get three amazing courses (believe me you'll want to lick every plate!) and if you can stretch to another £10 you'll also get four glasses of prosecco each!
We started off with a passion fruit Pisco sour and I can honestly say this was the best Pisco I've ever had! Refreshing, fluffy, sharp yet sweet and deliciously boozy! With two down we were feeling more than a little warm and fuzzy...
We started off with a passion fruit Pisco sour and I can honestly say this was the best Pisco I've ever had! Refreshing, fluffy, sharp yet sweet and deliciously boozy! With two down we were feeling more than a little warm and fuzzy...
To start we devoured...
- Sea bream ceviche, chocio corn and sweet potato
- Huancaina beef, popcorn, coriander and cress
- Tuna tiradito, rocoto, coriander and lemongrass
- Steam dumplings Asian style and chili dippings

The presentation is so beautifully executed and I can't rave more about the perfectly married flavours. Favourites were definitely the sea bream and tuna...yum!
For mains you can pick one of four options - we opted for two to share...
- Beef lomo, cassava, yellow chili and Asian flavours
- Chicken pachamanca, salsa criolla and cuzco corn
Finally for dessert we tucked into...
Coffee ice cream, aguaymanto, cacao crumble, alfajores and dulce de leche - to you and I that's ice cream, crushed chocolate crunch, baby meringues, melt in your mouth cookies filled with dulce de leche and some sweet but sour African cherries!
Overall highlights for us had to be the Piscos, all the starters and the cookies and dulce de leche - simply incredible! It's safe to say we'd go back in a heartbeat to sample everything else on the menu, or even just the same again please!!
