Heiress vs Penniless : Cinderella Slippers...

Listen up ballet pumps! You've had your red carpet moment and we've got to hand it to you, it was all very dainty BUT now it's time to step aside because there's a new kid in town ... Mrs Smoking Slipper! She's having a bit of a moment and the word on the fashion forward street is that she's set to be the shoe of the summer. More luxury than loungewear, she is guaranteed to add a touch of class to any outfit.

Us Mice may love a sky high stiletto but given the chance, day to day, we'd always channel cosy over crippling. So, we thought we'd bring you our pick of the best designer and highstreet styles. Without further ado, let the battle commence...

Talking a good game we have Miu MiuCharlotte OlympiaTod's and Christian Louboutin on the Heiress team:

Embrace your inner tomboy with these Miu Miu Crystal-embellished grosgrain slippers. Boasting crystal-embellished heels, crushed velvet uppers and lavish gold embroidered crests, these slippers don't play homage to Hugh's Playboy slippers in any way, shape or form and they have a price tag to prove it... These bad boys weigh in at £420...

We've got a serious feline footwear crush ovn these cuter then cute Charlotte Olympia Kitty flats. Available in a number of colourways and fabrics, us Mice still have a soft spot for the black and gold velvet and leather variety - chic, classic and a tad Parisian. Priced at £465 a pop, look at these beauties as an investment that will bring a smile to your face with every kittenish step...

Tod's Striped Slippers make me want to pick up my bucket and spade and head for Brighton beach! No frills needed with these satin and leather trim slippers - team with skinny jeans and an oversized tee to complete the laid back look. Priced at a fairly respectable £284...

Get your preppy go lucky meets punky princess look on with these spiked cap toe Christian Louboutin Intern Flats. We fell for the gold Christian Louboutin crest in an instant - how very regal! These punk-luxe slippers have the edge in our eyes purely because of their iconic soles - who in their right mind can resist a CL red sole! Priced at £545...

Fighting a good fight on the Penniless team we have Zara, New Look, Steve Madden:

Take a walk on the wild side with these standout Zara leopard pattern slippers. Monochrome is hot right now so you'll be ticking off two trends in one wear. Complete the smoking look with a pair of smoking pants - the model in this shot has opted for tartan which we think is a little overkill, opt for something understated so as not to take away the slipper limelight! Priced at an affordable £49.99...

If you're afraid to go all out, why not dip your toe in the smoking slipper water and opt for these understated but classic New Look Summer Slippers. Simple, elegant and a total snip at just £29.99...

Step out in style with these Zara printed fabric slippers. The pop of orange trim against the white and grey zig zag stripes makes these really stand out from the crowd and at £39.99 they're not going to break the piggy bank either..

Fuse animal print with edgy studs and these Steve Madden Missfitt slippers were born! If us Mice were mistaken, we would say these lovelies belong in the heiress camp, they definitely don't look like they'd only set you back $59.98...

All that's left is for you to decide have you got cash to splash on the designer styles? Or are you going to watch the pennies and opt for a more affordable highstreet design? Either way, at the end of the day, slippers in hand, we'll all look like this regardless...
