Childhood Memories: Peter Rabbit at babyGap

Admittedly it's usually fabulous fashion, sky high heels and statement jewellery that catches our eye... and with no baby mice on the way the content of this post might seem a little out of character. But it's true the 3BM (+guest mice) love a high street fashion collaboration or limited edition and just couldn't resist peeking into babyGap to see what the new Peter Rabbit collection was all about.

Having been brought up on the much-loved British children's classic books by Beatrix Potter - the tales of Peter Rabbit and friends (who didn't love the story of Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail) - we were immediately transported back to our childhoods. The limited edition collection celebrates the 110th anniversary of the publication of The Tale of Peter Rabbit and draws upon Potter's mischievous characters and magical adventures with gorgeous prints, graphics and cute chunky knits (with ears, of course!).

For newborns up until 24 months and for both boys and girls, the collection ranges from £4.95 - £27.95 and subtly brings to life the inspiration from Peter Rabbit into scrumptious almost edible pieces!

Key pieces have to include Peter's Jacket (a blue chunky cardigan - just like he wore himself), The Rabbit Whiskers Sweater (hopefully self explanatory!) and knitted hats, featuring Peter's rabbit ears or Jemima Puddle-Duck's bonnet and beak.

Rabbit motifs are beautifully incorporated with different interpretations from the block yellow rabbit on the above whimsical little dress to the embroidered rabbit that's repeated across the smart little Polo (I snapped this one up for my new Godson).

However, it's not all about rabbits and graphics - many pieces don't make an obvious reference to the books but more evoke the timeless British sentiment of the books such as the white scalloped eyelet dress and ribbed pink cardigan. We are even going a bit ga-ga over the lovely labelling.

We also snapped up this (see below) gift set box of three different printed bodysuits - our favourite is the sweet repeat print of radishes - a perfect present if there is a new little one in your life.

It's selling out fast in-store and online but there is still some stock and there are even some online exclusives. With Peter Rabbit china sets or the Beatrix Potter books a classic go-to for newborn or Christening presents, this collection makes an ideal alternative. So if you have a baby or know a baby ... you must check it out!
