Crisp Champagne and Hedonistic Hotdogs...

Back in July we wrote about a new restaurant called Bubbledogs in our Laid Back Cocktails Mice Advice and ever since have been waiting to trot on down and try out the much hyped Hotdog and Champagne combination! However with a very vague opening date and a website which didn't show you much more than the option to join the mailing list, we were kept very much in suspense! 

On 29th August an email arrived in the Mice's inbox announcing that the doors had opened...queue some mice squeaking and speed flicking of our diary pages! Luck was on our side with HK Mouse actually being in London, so the very next day we tried our luck for a lunchtime visit! 

Perfectly located on Charlotte Street, it is not only ideal for a shopping refuel break, but also a pre-night out lining of the stomach, girlie catch up aided by delish Champagne, a quirky date place and a convient pitstop between pubs / bars! 

You know you are in the right place as soon as you see the squiggly red neon Bubbledogs sign set off against a dull grey backdrop - first cool point! 

As soon as we walked through the door we were meet by a very smiley, friendly waitress who immediately had a table cleared, menus produced and the concept explained! First things first...the decor is on trend but not too much, so you still feel comfortable and like you fit in...second cool point! My favourite combination of shabby exposed brick walls, mismatched framed pictures, chalk boards and quirky artwork, mixed up with chic lighting and oversized mirrors. 

Next up the menu...all Grower Champagnes which if you don't know means that they are produced by the owners of the vineyards and as our waitress explained, see the entire process through from start to finish - including the design of the bottle and label. The list has been helpfully split into sections by taste - 'Touch of Spice', 'Fresh Fruit Bowl' and 'So Fresh and So Clean'....again any issues just ask the waiting staff, their knowledge is impeccable and our final choice was delicious!

Finally the Hotdogs...if like me they wouldn't be your usual choice and the idea doesn't exactly set your world alight, then I urge you to give Bubbledogs a try and I am certain you will be converted! These aren't your average pink hotdog in cheap shiny buns...but are flavoursome, incredibly moreish and no doubt extremely unhealthy but worth every calorie! 

HK Mouse and I shared so we could try both varities...being the greedy mouse that I am I had cut it in half before the photo had been taken...sorry about that but you get the picture!!! 

We opted for the BLT (bacon wrapped with caramelized lettuce and truffle mayo) and a Fourth of July (bacon wrapped with smokey BBQ sauce and coleslaw) with a side of sweet potato fries...seriously good, so much so I am heading back next week to try one of the eleven other options!

Cool, quirky, delicious and a bit of fun...defo one for the little black book!
