Oh La La Home: La Cerise sur le Gateau

As the shop's sale rails start to dwindle and the fall/winter collections begin to trickle in, I've already started thinking new season thoughts. The magazines are full of articles on how to update last season's wardrobe and the key always seems to be accessories, accessories, accessories... Can't afford a geometric print Prada silk coat and matching cigarette pants? Get a geometric print scarf instead. Not enough cash for a bit of Isabel Marant Western-style, laser cut leather? Plump for a pair of cowboy boots. The perfect way to get a taste of the new season without maxing out your Mastercard.

So while we're applying accessories economics to our wardrobes, why not take the same approach to our homes... Sofa looking a bit threadbare and tired? Add a couple of bright cushions. Bedroom looking drab and dreary? How about some brand new, quirkily patterned bed linen?

And while we'd love to kit our flats out with wall to wall Missoni Home, your home accessory updates don't have to cost as much as those Prada Cigarette Pants. Our firm favourite for unusual homeware that always makes us smile is French household linen brand, la Cerise sur le Gateau. Literally translating as the cherry on the cake, this is our go to brand for cushions, bedlinen and tea towels to give Mouse Towers that je na se quoi. Designer, Anne Hubert, who set up la Cerise sur le Gateau in 2005, describes the range as taking basic elements from her Grandma's kitchen and sprinkling these with flashy touches and quirky images.

Stocked by Selfridges and Urban Outfitters, we still prefer to shop on the website's e-shop mainly because of the gorgeous product photographs shot by Coco Amardeil.
