Top of the Shops....

Those of you who know me, will find it no surprise to see a post about Topshop. It is one of my favourite places in the world, if I can't make it to Oxford Street then online will do! Any of my work colleagues will tell you it is pretty tough to find a day when I'm not sporting at least one piece from the store.

I simply love it ...constantly new lines hitting down, easy everyday styles mixed with fashion forward pieces and you can buy literally everything in there...casual, going out, bikinis, pyjamas, jewellery, lingerie, shoes, bags, make-up, sweets and even ski fashion for the slopes.  Must remember to update my CV, imagine the sample sales....I'd sharpen my nails especially!

Anyway back to today's post...Topshop Unique AW 12/13 show.

I know this took place a couple of weeks ago but with the major fashion weeks now all wrapped up, I've been looking back over all the fashion fabulousness of the last month and this one really can't go unreported.  Firstly, it's Topshop, and secondly it was such a goody! Despite being on gorgeous, skinny models this collection was a lot easier to relate to than previous ones, Sophisticated Luxe Utility. Gone were the gimmicks and up stepped a more mature, wearable collection, perfectly executed by Kate Phelan (former fashion director of Vogue) and her team. Kate has received well deserved recognition for the strong identity she has already build for the brand. From the pictures, press and blogs it seemed an amazing show and excitement is clearly bubbling for everything Topshop Unique.

Rich amazing Autumnal palettes, fantastic fabrics, magnificent military detailing and lush layering. Fabric mixes were evident once again, (woven knit mixes are everywhere on the high street at the moment), but this time a mix of leather and wool - I can't waitttt!

One of my favourite pieces was definitely the over sized, colour block wool coat, it carries the rich red beautifully, giving a really cool, urban look. It was perfectly paired with a cute knit dress which balanced out the masculine feel to the look sending Topshop Unique straight into the catwalk cool category.

A strong nod towards multi textured fabrics was evident, layering these up and really having fun with them...velvet, heavy wool outwear, floaty shirt dresses, chunky knits and lots of leather. Especially loving the over-sized clutches and sky high chunky boots!

Once again the effortlessly cool print pyjama pants made an appearance on the catwalk, I actually still need to be convinced as I'm not totally sold on the matching top/bottom combo! However Topshop Unique demonstrated this trend in a relatable way and instead paired them with some slouchy knit - top points!

For me the Pièce de résistance was the black velvet utility jumpsuit! Now this might not sound like your cup of tea but just you wait...simple, chic and hot! Sell out written all over it....
